Ingredient Notes
The immune-boosting shots are filled with anti-inflammatory ingredients and are the perfect daily boost of energy, vitamins, and minerals to aid in digestion, healthy skin, and more!
- Pineapple: Pineapple is full of health benefits, nutrients, anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidant properties, and supports the immune system. Plus, it adds some much-needed sweetness to make these shots palatable.
- Lemon juice: A great source of vitamin C and antioxidants, and it improves digestive health.
- Fresh Ginger root: Ginger improves immunity, is an excellent source of vitamins B6 and C, zinc, iron, and magnesium, and aids in nausea relief, reduces pain, and more.
- Fresh Turmeric root: Curcumin, which is a compound in turmeric, has active medicinal properties that aid in getting rid of inflammation, high cholesterol, anxiety, and more.
- Black Pepper: While this may seem like a wild and weird addition, it helps your body absorb the turmeric by 2000%!
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Peel and cut the pineapple into chunks. Save the core and slice it into pieces as well. The core contains the highest concentration of bromelain in the pineapple!
- Slice off the ends of the lemons, then cut them in half and then into quarters. Keep the skin on if your juicer can handle it. The peel contains essential oils.
- Lightly peel the ginger with a spoon or knife. It’s okay if there’s some skin remaining, as the juicer will filter it out. Repeat with the turmeric root.
- Add all ingredients to the juicer, and once ready, adjust to taste. For more sweetness, add more pineapple. For more spice and heat, add more ginger. At this point, you can add any additional fruits or vegetables, too.
- Add a pinch of black pepper to the batch, mix to combine, then transfer the mixture into individual glass jars or store it in one airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days.
Secrets to Success
- If you don’t have a juicer, add all ingredients to a high-powdered blender and blend them for about 1 minute until they are completely smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or sieve to eliminate any pulp or chunks.
- Feel free to add additional fresh ingredients like orange juice, lime juice, or other citrus fruits, apple cider vinegar, a pinch of cayenne pepper or cinnamon, fresh garlic, coconut water, or additional fresh fruits like mango, more pineapple, etc. For additional sweetness, feel free to add a bit of maple syrup if needed.
Storage Tips
Transfer the mixture into individual jars or store it in one airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
You can also pour individual shots into an ice cube tray and store them in the freezer. Defrost one at a time, and enjoy your immune booster shot!
