Vegan Recipes to Boost Your Immune System
It’s that time of year where the cold and flu are common, so I’m excited to share 5 Vegan Recipes to Boost Your Immune System! These are recipes I come back to when I start to notice a sniffle come on. I’ll also make these recipes when I’m feeling under the weather or whenever flu season comes around. They feature key ingredients that work to support your immune system, and are rich in vitamins and minerals that prevent illness. Of course, you can support the body with vitamins, but I believe that food is medicine so I like to go right to the source!
All these recipes are vegan, anti-inflammatory, immune system boosting and very healthy. They’re whole food plant based, made with no added oils, refined sugars or gluten, just plants to support your immunity. So what’s in these recipes, you ask?
Star ingredients to boost your immune system
The recipes highlight ingredients known for their anti-inflammatory and immune boosting properties. For example, turmeric, which contains curcumin, has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a strong antioxidant. Other ingredients include ginger, citrus fruits rich in vitamin C, and you’ll notice that the foods are all very golden in colour. The orange and yellow colour in these ingredients is an indicator of high amounts of beta carotene, which our bodies convert into Vitamin A. In addition to these recipes, it’s always a great idea to snack on vibrant orange and yellow produce like carrots, oranges, grapefruit and pineapple.
