Why You’ll Love This High Protein Ice Cream
There is a common misconception about living a vegan lifestyle meaning not having enough protein content but I’m here to debunk that! The internet is buzzing with protein ice cream recipes using the uber popular Ninja Creami but a lot of those recipes aren’t vegan.
My vegan version of protein ice cream is made with simple ingredients – a vanilla protein shake, vanilla jell-o pudding mix, vanilla bean paste, pumpkin pie spice, kosher salt, and ground turmeric. Those ingredients come together to not only satisfy your sweet tooth but also increase that protein intake! I have this magic machine to thank for allowing me to feel like I’m eating regular ice cream but with healthier alternatives to traditional ice cream and store-bought protein ice cream ingredients.

How to Make Pumpkin Pie Protein Ice Cream

Step 1: Add vanilla protein shake, pudding mix, vanilla bean paste, pumpkin pie spice, salt, and turmeric (if using) to your creami container. Use a small whisk to mix until smooth and combined, then cover with a lid and freeze overnight or until solid.

Step 2: Once ready to enjoy, remove the container lid and pop into the Creami machine. Use the ice cream setting and once the cycle is over, check to see if the mixture is smooth. If it seems icy and a little powdery, add 2-3 tbsp of plant milk, return to the machine, and hit the re-spin button.
Step 3: To serve, sprinkle with chopped pecans and any of your other favorite toppings.

Secrets to Success
- Omit the pumpkin spice and turmeric, and add vanilla extract to make a ninja creami vanilla ice cream. This is a vegan option and a healthier alternative to traditional vanilla ice cream!
- You’ll have to let this recipe freeze for 12 – 24 hours, so I recommend making this recipe the day before you want to enjoy it. This ice cream recipe is best enjoyed right after making it!
- If you want your protein ice cream sweeter, you can add a bit of natural sweeteners like maple syrup or agave nectar.
- You can use your favorite dairy-free milk of choice for the liquid base of this recipe.
Serving Tips
For best results, serve immediately!
Some other delicious toppings/mix ins are chocolate chips, walnuts, caramel drizzle, chocolate drizzle, or pumpkin cookies!
Storage Tips
Store any leftover ice cream in the Ninja Creami container, covered, for up to 4 days.
When you’re ready to eat – take ice cream out of the freezer, add a splash of milk, and attach it to your creami machine. For the first spin, leave out any mix ins you want to add. Once that spin is finished, add your desired mix ins and do another spin using the “+ MIX-IN” button. Serve and enjoy!
