In a pot, add olive oil and once hot, sauté carrots and onions for 2-3 minutes. Add onion and salt and sauté another 2 minutes or so.
Add garlic, thyme, smoked paprika, beans and red chili flakes. Sauté for 2 minutes then add vegetable broth and bring the mixture to a boil and then lower to a simmer for 15 minutes, covered.
Transfer the mixture to a blender or use an immersion blender and blend until smooth. If you prefer a thicker soup, add more vegetable broth and blend until desired consistency is achieved. Season with salt, as needed, and black pepper.
