gogi grapefruit drink
I developed this gogi grapefruit drink recipes because I wanted a morning (or anytime) beverage that would support healthy hormone and energy levels! I like to limit caffeine, so this is a great alterative to iced coffee. It’s also naturally sweetened and packed with antioxidants, vitamin c, and electrolytes for hydration and energy.

Ingredients for Hormone Health Drink

Here’s what you need for this refreshing gogi-grapefruit drink:

  • Coconut water. I use coconut water as a low-sugar base for this drink. It’s full of electrolytes, which are essential for hydration.
  • Grapefruit juice. Not only does this add the pretty pink color to the drink, but grapefruit is also full of vitamin C.
  • Goji berry juice. You can make your own using the simple method below.

If you’d like to, you can add magnesium powder to the drink for an extra boost. But since I supplement magnesium, I omit the powder.

What Kind of Coconut Water is Best?

The base is coconut water for hydration and electrolytes. I like to use a high-quality, pink coconut water like Harmless Harvest. However, you can use fresh coconut too if you can find it.

Homemade Gogi Berry Juice

Make your goji berry juice by soaking goji berries in warm water overnight or for at least 3-4 hours until nice and tender. Then blend the berries and water until smooth. Finally, strain out the pulp with cheesecloth or a fine-mesh strainer.

What are Goji Berries?

Goji berries, also called wolfberries, are native to Asia. They’re usually sold dried. The berries have a sweet-tart flavor and add a beautiful red hue to this drink.

Do Goji Berries Help Hormones?

The long red berries have been used medicinally in Chinese Traditional Medicine and eastern medicine practices. They support liver health and kidney health. They are rich in vitamins A, C, and iron. And these berries can be great for anyone struggling with hormonal imbalance because they support liver health and function, which is key to hormone health. The liver metabolizes hormones and plays a key role in managing the balance.

Make-Ahead Hormone Health Drink

You can make this drink in batches in advance if you like. Or prepare the goji juice in advance to save time. Store it in the fridge for up to five days.

Substitute for Grapefruit Juice

Grapefruit does interact with some medications, so if you cannot have grapefruit, try orange juice instead. Feel free to experiment with the ratios of each ingredient to your liking, too.
