Pink Pitaya Smoothie

It’s smoothie week and I’m sharing a new smoothie recipe every single day, starting with this Pink Pitaya Smoothie! It’s a gorgeous, vibrant pink dragon fruit smoothie with tart and fruity raspberry and optional mango. It’s creamy and rich thanks to vegan yogurt and plant milk to blend and packs in a nice amount of plant protein to make it a balanced breakfast or snack.

How to Make a Pink Pitaya Smoothie

Smoothies are one of the easiest things you can make because all you need to do is throw everything into a blender and let it do it’s thing! They are extremely customizable, and you can adjust the texture to your liking to turn it into more of a spoonable smoothie bowl or a sippable smoothie to go.

To make this Pink Pitaya Smoothie, we’re using frozen bananas and pitaya (or dragonfruit), raspberries and optional mango chunks to give the smoothie a creamy and thick texture.

  1. Add all ingredients to the blender unit. I recommend starting with very little plant milk if you prefer a thicker texture, and using a smoothie with a tamper to help move things along as you blend.
  2. If needed, scrape down the sides of the blender unit with a spatula. For a thinner texture, add as much plant milk as you’d like! It’ll be much easier to blend too.
  3. Blend until desired texture is achieved and enjoy!

Best Plant-Based Protein Powder

To make this dragon fruit smoothie, I recommend either an unflavoured or vanilla flavoured protein powder. My personal favourite plant protein powder is Sprout Living’s Epic Plant Protein. Sprout living protein is formulated without any added gums, fillers or natural flavours which are commonly found in protein powders. It’s smooth, adds nice volume and texture to the smoothie and the vanilla protein adds a dessert-y flavour to any drink!

Serving Suggestions

  • This dragon fruit smoothie makes a delicious plant protein rich breakfast, pre workout or post workout snack!
  • Enjoy it as a smoothie bowl, make it extra thick in texture and add toppings of choice like granola, additional vegan yogurt and fresh fruit to top.
  • Take it to go in a travel cup for a quick boost of plant protein on the go.
  • Boost the nutrition by adding a handful of seeds and/or nuts, and if you’re not afraid to part with the pink colour, feel free to add veggies of choice like spinach, kale or zucchini!

Can I Make Dragon Fruit Smoothies Ahead of Time?

If you’d like to meal prep a breakfast smoothie, you can prepare this dragon fruit smoothie in advance. You can prepare by storing all ingredients together in a freezer safe container so you can dump and blend with plant milk in the morning, or you can blend the entire smoothie, store in a freezer safe container and let thaw when you’re ready to enjoy on the go.

Try a pink protein pitaya smoothie with creamy cashew butter, ripe banana, tropical mango, and vegan protein powder for a healthy breakfast


  • 1 frozen ripe banana
  • 1 serving fresh or frozen pitaya pink dragonfruit
  • 1/2 cup frozen raspberries
  • 2 tbsp vanilla vegan yogurt
  • plant milk to blend
  • optional
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • 1 serving vanilla plant protein powder


  • Add all ingredients to a high speed blender, starting with less plant milk and adding more as needed to blend. For a thicker, smoothie bowl texture, use very little plant milk and add more for a sippable smoothie.
