Hello from the Chicago airport! I’m headed home after a packed three days in Chicago with Swissôtel for a preview of their vitality initiatives and the new Vitality Suite rooms. Their goal is to help you travel well, support your healthy lifestyle and make your hotel experience a fitness friendly one, instead of the standard 4-handweights-and-a-yoga-mat-call-it-a-hotel-gym experience. When I travel, my default move is to bring my own yoga mat for self practice in my hotel room, or trying local studio classes because most of the time, the hotel gym (if there is one) is pretty bare bones. I end up modifying my workouts with what equipment they have to offer, but am always excited to get home to my usual gym. You may be able to relate.

This trip however, was the first time I’ve really been impressed by the fitness facilities at a hotel. Swissôtel has been working on their Vitality initiative in a very holistic manner, covering everything from fitness, to healthy eating and bathroom products but here’s a quick run through of the Vitality Suite and the fitness center. If you tuned into my stories this week, you already got a little bit of a sneak peek!

The Vitality Suite is a 1,700 square foot suite style room with panoramic Chicago city and waterfront views, an in room (yes, IN ROOM!) fitness center equipped with a rower, Peloton bike, yoga mat, wellness wall including weighted machines, sandbag dumbbells and an on screen virtual trainer. The room also features a gorgeous master bedroom, bathroom, living and work area and healthy snack options. You can read more about the room here! I had the pleasure of testing out the en suite fitness and using the wellness wall and I was impressed by the variety of movement that was possible.

If you’re not in need of a space quite so large, or looking for a more budget friendly option, I would still recommend booking a room at the hotel because the Fitness Center (accessible by all hotel guests) is absolutely incredible. The Fitness Center is located on the top floor, with panoramic Chicago views, 2 rows of varied cardio machines, a fully equipped functional training area, targeted weight machines, free weights and a separate movement studio room with on demand virtual fitness classes (everything from spin to yoga). Every morning there are fresh smoothies available for all guests as well! I’ve really never seen a more beautiful hotel gym facility. If you prefer a workout in the comfort of your own hotel room, you can also request a fitness bundle of equipment including a yoga mat and pilates equipment. In addition to the fitness offerings, there are unique menu options at the hotel that have been specifically created with vitality in mind.

If you’re a frequent traveler, whether for business or pleasure, Swissôtel is a great option and their vitality initiative will soon be available at a growing number of their hotels.
